The Noble Sixfold Path

Credos of the Virtus Crusader

Our Philosophy

As Virtus Crusaders we regard it our solemn duty to behave righteously and to do good and in this to be altruistic. Together with the virtues 'to share with others', 'connectedness' and 'challenging spirit' these six virtues form the whole of the Noble Sixfold Path of the Virtus Crusade.

The Noble Sixfold Path is forged in the philosophical tradition of Gong Qi that conceptualizes virtue as how we attend to the relationships that simultaneously constitute us. The Noble Sixfold Path constitutes the Virtus Crusade into an inclusive and virtuous social entity to serve the common good, by Virtus Crusaders living the Noble Sixfold Path, trying every day to be better than before.

To behave righteously

Righteousness is the cardinal virtue for Virtus Crusaders. All further virtues and actions derive from this one virtue, which includes sincerity and honesty. Righteousness implies doing justice, with a sense of loyalty and dedication.

Doing good

It is our solemn duty to do good to fellow Virtus Crusaders, alliance members, and the just community of New Eden. Doing good is our daily lifestyle: from helping new pilots and maintaining ADM, to taking on challenging problems for the common good.

To be altruistic

Act at cost to yourself for the benefit of others, without expectation of reciprocity or compensation. For the work we do for corp and the community, we expect no reward; we serve.

To share with others

Sharing builds trust and responsibility to just society. A Virtus Crusader regards time, knowledge and wealth as belonging to the Virtus Crusade to serve the common good.

Connectedness

The Crusade exists through our interdependent relationships—with each other and with just society. We participate in conversations, activities, and meetings, and take initiative in how we can best contribute.

Challenging spirit

We encourage initiative and action—a spirit that overcomes difficulties. Challenges need not be grand; doing something new and acting on it is the essence of our mentality.
