IMPORTANT: Expect to lose ships, even following every single precaution. There's no way to be 100% safe.

Do not fly anything you cannot afford to lose. Losing ships is the cost of doing business in Pochven.

Despite YOLO'ing several expensive ships (exhumers, porps, barges) for science, the author has still pulled billions from Pochven over weekdays.

For Completely New Players

Prerequisites

This section provides new players with basic knowledge and tools that are prerequisites for Pochven operations. Some aspects are purposefully left out since following sections cover all Pochven basics.

This section is NOT for players new to Pochven, but rather players new to EVE Online.

Directional Scanner (D-scan)

Your most important survival tool

Essential for survival in Pochven and wormholes. Your ability to use this tool will help you maximize ISK/hour and survive.

Range: Up to 14.3 AU, manually activated with "V" key
Angle: Choose specific directions or full 360°
Filter Setup: Ships, combat probes, cargo containers, MTUs, warp disruption

Bookmarks (BM)

Essential positioning system

VIC Shared Folder: Access via "VIC Global" chat MOTD link
Locations Window: Keep "Locations in System" open (L key)
Critical Requirement: Must be able to right-click and warp instantly
Window Setup: Separate window for instant access

Solar System Map

Spatial awareness tool

Access: F9 shortcut key
Shows: Planets, stations, structures, anomalies
Limitations: Won't show players, probes, or mobile objects
Usefulness: Helps with spatial understanding of system layout

D-scan Window Setup

Window Configuration:

  • Undock from solar system map
  • Place directly under overview
  • Keep visible AT ALL TIMES
  • Yellow: Range/Angle adjustment

Filter Settings:

  • Deselect all, then select:
  • ✓ All ships
  • ✓ Combat probes
  • ✓ Cargo containers
  • ✓ Mobile Tractor Units (MTUs)
  • ✓ Warp disruption objects

The Basics of Pochven

Key Differences from K-space

Local Chat:

  • Only people who TYPE appear (after delay)
  • D-scan is your PRIMARY intel source
  • SPAM the V key constantly

Combat & Access:

  • No consequences except weapon timers
  • Access only via filaments or wormholes
  • No regular stargates to enter

Pochven Geography

Most systems have only 2 stargates, except for 6 systems which have 3. This makes gate camps very effective and common.

Home Systems: Corner systems of the triangle
Border Systems: Between constellations
Internal Systems: Remaining systems

Roaming NPCs & Standings

Roaming NPC fleets can show up almost anywhere in a system, including gates, planets, and stations.

Exceptions: Internal, border, home, and ubiquitous ore sites
Hostility: Some will be hostile by default
Station Services: Gated by standing requirements
Home System Gates: Require 5.0 standing to ENTER, but you can always EXIT

Docking: -2.0
Reprocessing: -0.1
Market: 0.0
Fitting: 3.0

Note: Player-owned structures have no standing requirements!

Deadspace Ore Anomalies

Critical Mechanics

All ore anomalies in Pochven are deadspace pockets. This is critically important for two reasons:

1. Fixed Warp-in Point (WIP): Everyone warping to 0km lands at the exact same spot
2. No Internal Warping: Cannot warp to anything inside the pocket, even if 150km+ away

Tactical Implications

Predictable Landing: Hunters know exactly where you'll appear
No Quick Escapes: Must fly under propulsion to reposition
Bookmark Strategy: Create offset positions immediately
Never Idle at WIP: Move or cloak immediately upon landing

Ore Site Survival

Land at WIP, immediately create offset bookmark
Move to offset position before beginning operations
Maintain alignment to safe spots while mining
Use propulsion modules to reposition within pocket

Safe Navigation Through Pochven

Why Learn Navigation Before Entry?

When you arrive in Pochven, you must IMMEDIATELY move or cloak.

There's no time to figure out navigation on the spot - you need to know these procedures by heart.

Gate Safety Procedures

Never warp directly to gates

Use Bookmarks: Warp to 200-300km off gates
Visual Check: Look for camps before approaching
Scout Ahead: Use fast ships for larger/slower vessels
Not Bulletproof: Doesn't save you from what's on the other side

Scouting Strategy

Prospect as primary scout

Prospect Advantages: Fast, agile, primary mining ship
Dual Purpose: Scout and mine in same ship
Risk Tolerance: Only lost one Prospect to gate camps in 4 months
Acceptable Risk: Convenient and effective approach

Getting In and Out of Pochven

Entry Procedure

Krai Veles Cladistic-5 'Krai Veles' Filament

  1. Buy or ask for Krai Veles Cladistic-5 filament
  2. Put filament in your ship
  3. Create a fleet with only yourself in it
  4. Go to a safe spot
  5. Set safety to red
  6. Activate filament

Exit Methods

Two ways to get out

Death Clone: Quick but you lose your ship
Filament Extraction: Use Proximity-5 'Extraction' Filament
  • Arvasaras: 3-5 jumps from Jita (HS only)
  • Senda: 3-7 jumps from Jita (HS only)

Getting Neutral to Triglavians

Very low skill point requirement. Take any frigate that can do damage or a Vigil with target painters.

Procedure:

  1. Find an INCIPIENT drone site
  2. Start damaging/painting 1 or 2 rogue drones
  3. You don't need to kill them necessarily
  4. Site will likely get cleared by someone else
  5. You will get a standing tick after completion

Survival Tip: Start burning away towards a safe after pulling aggro. The frigate doesn't need to survive since extraction costs as much as the ship.

Pochven Mining Strategies

Solo Frigate Mining

Venture & Prospect operations

Venture Mining:
  • Beginner-friendly option
  • Lower risk due to ship cost
  • Good for learning mechanics
Prospect Mining:
  • Higher yield and tank
  • Covert ops cloak capability
  • Better ore hold capacity

Miner + Hauler

Two-ship operation

Setup:
  • Dedicated mining ship
  • Separate hauling vessel
  • Coordinated operations
Benefits:
  • Higher total yield
  • Specialized ship roles
  • Better risk distribution

Miner + Boost

Maximum efficiency setup

Advantages:
  • Highest ISK/hour potential
  • Mining link bonuses
  • Shared intelligence
Risks:
  • Higher profile target
  • More valuable ships at risk
  • Requires experienced pilots
